Best AI Visibility Tools 2026: Track Your Brand in ChatGPT

The best AI visibility tools in 2026 are Profound for large brands, Peec AI and Otterly.AI for teams and agencies that need daily tracking, and the AI modules inside Semrush or Ahrefs if you already pay for them. All of them answer the same question: when people ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers about your category, does your brand show up, and which sources get cited? If you only need a quick answer to "can AI search even read my site?", a lighter check is enough to start.

This guide explains what an AI visibility tracker actually measures, why the numbers move around so much, and how the main tools compare on engines, prompts and price. We make one of the tools mentioned here, the KissMySkills AI visibility check. We say where it fits and where it does not: it is a readiness check with weekly monitoring, not a full tracker like the others. Prices checked October 2026.

What AI visibility tools measure

"AI search visibility" and "LLM visibility" mean roughly the same thing: how often, and how favourably, AI assistants mention your brand or cite your pages. Most tools report some version of these metrics:

  • Mention rate. In what share of answers to a set of prompts does your brand appear?
  • Share of voice. How often you appear compared with named competitors.
  • Position. Are you the first brand named, or the fifth?
  • Citations. Which URLs the AI linked to as sources, yours or a review site's or a forum thread's.
  • Sentiment. Whether the answer describes you positively, neutrally or with caveats.

Citations are the most useful of these for action, because they tell you which pages and which third-party sites AI engines trust in your category.

How tracking works (and why results vary)

AI visibility tools do not have access to what real users ask ChatGPT. Instead they run a prompt panel: a list of questions you choose (for example "best CRM for a roofing company"), sent to each AI engine on a schedule, usually daily. The tool records the answers and counts mentions and citations.

That method has real limits, and you should know them before you read a dashboard:

  • Answers are not stable. Ask the same question twice and you can get a different list of brands. One run tells you little; trends over weeks tell you more.
  • Your prompts are a guess. If the panel does not match how buyers actually phrase questions, the score is precise but irrelevant.
  • Personalisation and location. Logged-in users with memory or a different location can see different answers from the tool's clean session.
  • Engines change. Model updates can move results overnight with nothing changing on your site.

Treat an AI visibility score as a sampled survey, not a ranking. More prompts and more runs reduce the noise, which is why prompt count is the main thing you pay for.

The tools

Profound

Profound is the enterprise option. Its pricing page lists a free trial (three engines, 50 prompts a day for seven days) and an Enterprise plan with custom pricing. Enterprise can cover up to nine engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek and Google AI Overviews, with daily runs, API access, exports, SSO and ChatGPT Shopping tracking. The page also mentions an agency plan with per-client workspaces.

Where it wins: prompt volume, engine coverage and analytics depth for large brands with a dedicated team. If you need to report AI share of voice to a CMO across many product lines, this is the category leader.

Where it is a stretch: small businesses. If you need a sales call to get a price, it is usually not built for a five-person company.

Peec AI

Peec AI targets SEO and marketing teams and agencies. On its own comparison page, Peec lists Starter at €89 (about $103) a month for 50 prompts tracked daily, Pro at €199 (about $230) for 150 prompts, and Enterprise from $499 for 300+ prompts. Starter and Pro cover ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews; more models such as Gemini and Claude come on Enterprise. Plans include source and citation analytics, competitor benchmarking, exports and team permissions.

Where it wins: daily tracking with clear citation data at a mid-market price, and multi-project setups for agencies.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI publishes the most transparent pricing in the category. With monthly billing: Lite is $29 for 15 prompts, Standard $189 for 100 prompts, Premium $489 for 400 prompts, with about 15% off on annual billing. All plans track ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot daily, include link citation analysis and a GEO audit, and allow unlimited team members. Standard and up add API and MCP access.

Where it wins: the cheapest real daily tracker, and good for agencies reporting on several clients.

Semrush and Ahrefs AI modules

If you already pay for an SEO suite, check what it includes before buying a separate tool:

  • Semrush now bundles AI prompt tracking into its SEO + AI search plans: 50 prompts on Starter ($199 a month), 100 on Pro+ and 200 on Advanced.
  • Ahrefs Brand Radar AI starts at $199 a month as an add-on, built on a large database of prompts, with extra custom prompt packages from $50 a month.
  • SE Ranking sells an AI Search add-on covering AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT (€79 a month, or €63.20 billed annually, as shown to us in euros).

Where they win: one login, and AI data next to your keyword and backlink data.

KissMySkills AI visibility check

Our tool answers a different, earlier question: can AI search engines read and understand your site at all? It checks your robots.txt rules for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and other AI crawlers, whether those crawlers actually get your page, your llms.txt, structured data and FAQ markup, plus classic on-page SEO. You get a score and a fix list in order of impact. A one-off check is free; weekly monitoring and alerts are included in All-Access.

What it does not do: it does not run prompt panels or count how often ChatGPT names you. It is a lighter check, not a full tracker. If you need daily mention tracking, use one of the tools above. Many sites should run a readiness check first anyway, because there is no point tracking mentions if AI crawlers are blocked.

Pricing compared

Prices checked October 2026 on each vendor's own site. Where we could not confirm a number on the vendor's site, we describe the plan without one.

Tool Engines tracked Prompts included Citation tracking Agency features Entry price
Profound Up to 9 on Enterprise (trial: 3) Custom; trial 50/day for 7 days Yes Agency workspaces Free trial, then custom
Peec AI 4 on Starter/Pro; more on Enterprise 50 (Starter), 150 (Pro) Yes, domain and URL level Multi-project, permissions €89 (~$103)/mo
Otterly.AI ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot 15 (Lite), 100, 400 Yes Unlimited seats and workspaces $29/mo
Semrush Several major engines 50 on Starter Yes Agency features on higher plans $199/mo (Starter)
Ahrefs Brand Radar Several major engines Large prompt database plus custom packs Yes Via Ahrefs plans From $199/mo add-on
KissMySkills Checks crawler access for major AI bots None (readiness check, not prompts) No No Free check; monitoring in All-Access $15/mo

Peec AI vs Profound

This is the comparison buyers ask about most, and the honest answer is that they are built for different companies.

  • Choose Profound if you are a large brand, need the widest engine coverage, high prompt volume, API, SSO and a dedicated support contact, and have the budget for a sales-led contract.
  • Choose Peec AI if you are an SEO team or agency that wants self-serve daily tracking with good citation data at a published mid-market price.

A note on Profound pricing: Profound's own pricing page, when we checked, showed the free trial and custom Enterprise pricing. Competitor comparison pages list lower self-serve Profound tiers, but we could not confirm those numbers on Profound's site, so we do not quote them here. Ask Profound directly.

If you are looking for a Profound alternative or a Peec AI alternative mainly because of price, Otterly.AI's Lite plan is the cheapest real daily tracker we found, and your existing SEO suite's AI module may already be paid for.

What to do with the data

A visibility score on its own changes nothing. Here is what teams actually do with it:

  1. Look at citations, not just mentions. If AI answers in your category keep citing a particular review site, directory or comparison article, that is where you need to be listed or reviewed.
  2. Fix the pages AI engines cite. If your pricing or product page is cited with outdated facts, update it and make the key facts easy to extract.
  3. Close gaps against competitors. Prompts where competitors appear and you do not are your content and PR plan.
  4. Check readiness first. Blocked AI crawlers, missing schema or client-side rendering can explain low visibility before content does.

Our guides to using AI agents for SEO and automating SEO with AI agents show how to turn these findings into a weekly routine. For the bigger picture on step-by-step tactics, see how to rank in ChatGPT.

Choosing by budget

  • $0: run a free readiness check, then test a dozen of your buyers' questions by hand in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google once a month. Write the answers in a spreadsheet.
  • Under $50 a month: Otterly.AI Lite for a small daily prompt panel, plus the free check. If you also want weekly readiness monitoring and the other KissMySkills tools, All-Access is $15 a month or $129 a year.
  • $100 to $250 a month: Peec AI Starter or Pro, or Otterly Standard, for real share-of-voice tracking. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, compare their AI module first.
  • Enterprise budget: Profound, or Peec AI Enterprise, for wide engine coverage and high prompt volume.

For agencies adding GEO reporting, the cost per client matters more than the headline price. Otterly's unlimited workspaces and Peec's multi-project plans are built for that. For broader research tooling, see our list of AI market research tools.

FAQ

How do I get mentioned by ChatGPT?

Make sure AI crawlers can access your site, state clearly who you are and what you offer on your own pages (with schema), answer the real questions buyers ask, and earn mentions on the third-party sites AI engines already cite in your category, such as review sites, directories and trusted publications. Then measure with a tracker or regular manual checks.

Does ChatGPT use SEO?

Partly. When ChatGPT searches the web it relies on a search index and on pages it can crawl, so classic SEO basics such as crawlability, clear titles, structured content and links still matter. But AI answers also lean heavily on third-party mentions and on how clearly a page states facts, so good SEO is necessary but not sufficient.

How do I check if my site is in AI Overviews?

Search your key questions in Google and look at the sources listed in the AI Overview. To do this at scale, use a tracker that covers Google AI Overviews, such as Otterly.AI, Peec AI, Semrush or SE Ranking's AI Search add-on. Google Search Console includes AI Overview traffic in its overall web search data but does not separate it out.

What is the best AI visibility tool for a small business?

Start with a free readiness check and monthly manual checks. If you need daily tracking, Otterly.AI Lite at $29 a month is the cheapest real tracker we found. Larger budgets should look at Peec AI or the AI module in an SEO suite they already use.

Is the KissMySkills tool an AI visibility tracker?

Not in the full sense. It checks whether AI search engines can read and understand your site (crawler access, llms.txt, schema, FAQ markup and on-page SEO) and monitors that weekly on All-Access. It does not run prompt panels or count brand mentions in AI answers.

Bottom line

Pick an AI visibility tracker by budget and by how many prompts you really need, and read the results as trends, not exact rankings. Before you pay for tracking, make sure AI engines can read your site. Check how AI search engines see your site with our AI visibility tool: the one-off check is free and takes about 20 seconds.
