Leonard Pliachko

I am a [ROLE] at a [COMPANY TYPE, e.g. B2B SaaS startup]. Our product: [ONE SENTENCE]. Our audience: [WHO THEY ARE AND THE PAIN THEY FEEL]. Our tone: [2-3 adjectives, e.g. direct, confident, no corporate jargon]. Words we never use: [YOUR BANNED LIST]. Keep this in mind for everything in this conversation. Never invent a statistic, a customer quote or a case study. If a claim needs a number I have not given you, write [NEEDS DATA].

The last two lines are the ones that matter. Without them you will eventually ship a sentence containing a percentage that nobody measured, and marketing copy is exactly the genre where that happens quietly.

The permanent version of that brief

One file that carries the brief above into every conversation, so you stop re-pasting it and the rules survive the follow-up question three messages later. Content calendars, briefs and campaign structure in a house voice rather than a default one.

Step 2: start with a task you already know how to do

The point of the first week is not to hand over the thinking. It is to find out where the time goes. Good first tasks:

  • Rewrite an email you already sent, with a sharper subject line and a stronger first sentence.
  • Turn a feature list into a benefit list, then ask which benefits it thinks are weak and why.
  • Five variations of a social post for a campaign already running, in your voice not its own.
  • Paste three competitor homepages and ask for each one's positioning in a single sentence.

On each, compare the output to what you would have written in the same time. The gap is the answer, and it will be bigger on editing than on original writing.

Step 3: push it into strategy

Execution tasks are where people stop. Strategy is where it earns the setup time, and the trick in both prompts below is the instruction to be opinionated, because the default behaviour is to hedge everything into uselessness.

audience analysis

How do you use Claude for marketing?+

Spend five minutes on setup with a brand brief (your role, product, audience, tone and banned words), start with a task you already know how to do, push Claude into strategy, then build a reusable system rather than a one-off asset. Expect it to get six things wrong, including invented statistics, so check what it produces.

Can marketers use Claude without technical skills?+

Yes. There is no coding, no API and no technical setup. What separates useful output from generic output is not technical skill, it is a brief: your role, your product in one sentence, your audience, your tone, and the words you never use. Five lines pasted at the top of a conversation changes the result more than any prompt trick.

What can Claude do for marketing beyond writing?+

Writing is the smallest slice. It produces campaign briefs, audience analysis and messaging frameworks (strategy); summarises competitor pages and review data you paste in (research); builds content calendars and launch checklists (planning); tightens copy you wrote and flags where the brand voice slipped (editing); and writes the briefing templates and review checklists your team uses afterwards (systems). Editing is where it is most reliable, because nothing has to be invented.

Can Claude analyze marketing data?+

No. It has no access to your analytics, ad accounts, CRM or email platform, so it has never seen a number you did not paste in. It can interpret data you give it and tell you what to look at next, but any claim about your channel performance that you did not supply the figures for is a guess in a confident register.

Is a marketing skill file better than just writing a good prompt?+

A pasted brief works until you forget to paste it, and the risky output is usually the casual follow-up rather than the first request. A skill file such as Lena, the Content Marketing Manager skill at $19, carries the audience, tone and banned words into every conversation automatically. If marketing is the whole function rather than one of your hats, the Marketing Agent Bundle is $99 for five agents against $195 bought separately.
