AI Resume Bullet Points: 60 Examples by Role (and the Claude Prompt Behind Them)

A strong resume bullet has three parts: what you did, what changed, and a number that proves it. "Responsible for social media" says nothing; "Grew Instagram followers from 2,100 to 9,800 in 10 months by switching to three short videos a week" says everything. Below are 60 examples across 12 roles in that format, then the Claude prompt that turns your own duty list into bullets like these. One rule matters more than any template: the numbers must be yours. A bullet you cannot explain in an interview does more damage than a plain one.

What makes a resume bullet work?

  • Start with a strong verb that says what you did: led, cut, built, grew, launched, negotiated. Not "responsible for" or "helped with".
  • Show the result, not the activity. What was better after you did it?
  • Add a number a recruiter can picture: a percentage, an amount, a time saved, a count of people or accounts. If you do not have an exact figure, a defensible estimate ("about 10 hours a week") is fine as long as you can explain how you got it.
  • Use the words from the job post where they honestly describe your work. Applicant tracking systems and recruiters both look for them.
  • Keep it to one or two lines. If a bullet needs three, it is two bullets.

The numbers in the examples below are illustrations of the format, not benchmarks. Replace every figure with your own.

How do you get Claude to write bullets from your experience?

Do not ask Claude to "improve my resume". It will polish the words and, if you are unlucky, invent results. Give it the raw material and make it ask before it guesses.

I am applying for: [JOB TITLE] at [TYPE OF COMPANY]. Job post: [PASTE THE FULL JOB POST] My experience in this role: [JOB TITLE, COMPANY, DATES] What I did, in my own words, messy is fine: [PASTE DUTIES, PROJECTS, ANYTHING YOU REMEMBER, NUMBERS YOU HAVE] Step 1. Before writing anything, ask me up to 8 questions to find numbers I have not mentioned: volumes, before and after figures, money, time, people, rankings. Wait for my answers. Step 2. Write 5 bullets for this role: - Strong action verb first, then the result, then the number. - One or two lines each. - Use wording from the job post only where it truly describes my work. - NEVER invent a number. If I did not give one, write [NUMBER?] so I can fill it in or drop the bullet. Step 3. For each bullet, tell me which requirement of the job post it answers, and list any requirement none of my bullets covers.

Step 1 is the one that changes the result. Most people have more numbers than they think, but only remember them when asked a specific question: how many clients, how long it used to take, what the budget was. The [NUMBER?] rule keeps Claude from filling the gap with a plausible fiction.

How do you check your bullets before you send the resume?

Here are my resume bullets: [PASTE] Review them as a recruiter for [JOB TITLE] would, in 30 seconds. 1. Which bullets describe an activity instead of a result? Quote them. 2. Which numbers would a hiring manager doubt or ask about? Say what question they would ask. 3. Which bullets use the same verb or structure as another? Suggest an alternative verb. 4. Rank all bullets from strongest to weakest for this job. Do not rewrite them. I will.

Question 2 is your interview prep. If you cannot answer the follow-up question for a bullet, soften the claim or remove it. Our free resume generator builds a full draft around your bullets, and the guide to using Claude as a resume builder covers the rest of the document.

Which mistakes make AI-written bullets backfire?

  • Invented metrics. If an interviewer asks how you measured a 47% improvement and you do not know, the whole resume loses credibility.
  • Buzzword stacking. "Spearheaded cross-functional synergies" reads as AI to recruiters who see hundreds of resumes. Plain verbs win.
  • The same structure every line. Ten bullets all shaped "Verb X by Y%" look generated. Vary the length and the kind of result.
  • Keyword stuffing. Pasting job-post phrases that do not describe your work can pass a filter and then fail the human who reads it.
  • Sharing confidential numbers. Revenue of a private employer or client names under NDA do not belong on a resume. Use percentages or ranges instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good resume bullet point?

One or two lines that start with a strong action verb, state the result of your work and include a number that proves it, such as a percentage, an amount, a time saved or a count. It should answer a requirement from the job post.

Can I use AI to write my resume bullet points?

Yes, as long as the facts and numbers are yours. Give Claude your raw experience and the job post, let it ask questions to surface your numbers, and tell it never to invent a metric but to mark gaps for you to fill.

What if I do not have numbers for my achievements?

Most people have more than they think: volumes handled, time before and after, budgets, team size, customer counts. A defensible estimate is acceptable if you can explain how you got it. If there is truly no number, describe the concrete outcome instead.

How many bullet points should each job have?

Usually three to five for recent or relevant roles and one or two for older ones. Put the bullet that best matches the job post first in each role.

Do recruiters notice AI-written resumes?

They notice the patterns: buzzwords, identical sentence structures and numbers that do not survive a follow-up question. Plain verbs, varied bullets and metrics you can explain read as human, however they were drafted.
