Setup Anxiety Is Real — and Completely Unnecessary
Most people who hesitate before buying an AI agent are not unsure about whether it will be useful. They are unsure about the setup. Words like "system prompt," "project instructions," and "skill file" suggest something technical is coming. It is not.
A KissMySkills AI agent is two text files. Setting one up is the same process as copying and pasting text from one document into a text box on a website. If you can do that, you can use an AI agent. This guide walks through the entire process from file download to first output — no steps skipped, no technical knowledge assumed.
What You Need Before You Start
To use a KissMySkills AI agent you need two things: a Claude or ChatGPT account (free plans work for basic use, paid plans for extended sessions and longer outputs) and the two agent files — the skill file (.md) and the activation prompt (.txt). Both files are delivered automatically after purchase via the Digital Downloads email you receive from the store.
You do not need to install anything. You do not need to write code. You do not need to understand how the files work internally. You paste them in the right places and the agent does the rest.
Step 1: Open Your Agent Files
After purchasing, you will receive a download email with two files attached. Open both in any text editor — Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac, or simply open them in your browser by dragging the files into a tab. You need to be able to see the full contents of each file and copy them.
The skill file ends in .md — for example, albert-code-review-agent.md. This is the agent's full configuration: its specialist knowledge, methodology, output formats, and behavioural rules. The activation file ends in -start.txt. This is the message you paste into the conversation to start the session. Keep both open while you complete the next steps.
Step 2: Set Up Claude Projects (Recommended Method)
The cleanest way to use a KissMySkills agent is through Claude Projects. Projects keep the agent configuration permanently loaded so you can return to the agent at any time — in a new session, days or weeks later — without having to reload the skill file each time.
Go to Claude.ai. On the left sidebar, click Projects, then New Project. Give the project a name that matches the agent — "Albert — Code Review" for example. Inside the project, find the Project Instructions field at the top of the page. Copy the entire contents of the skill file (.md) — select all, copy — and paste it into the Project Instructions box. Click Save.
Your agent is now configured. Every conversation you start inside this project will have the agent active from the first message. You only need to do this once per agent.
Step 3: Activate the Agent
Start a new conversation inside the project. Open the activation file (-start.txt). You will see a clear divider line part-way through the file with instructions above it and the activation message below it. Copy everything below the divider line — this is the activation message — and paste it into the Claude conversation. Press Send.
The agent will respond immediately — not with a generic greeting, but with its first targeted intake question. This is the agent taking charge of the process. From this point, you are the one being asked questions, not the one writing prompts.
Step 4: Answer the Intake Questions
Every KissMySkills agent asks its intake questions one at a time. This is intentional — being asked five questions simultaneously is overwhelming. Being asked one is easy.
Answer each question as specifically as you can. The more specific your answers, the more specific and useful the output. You do not need to write in complete sentences or follow a particular format. Short, direct answers work well. If you do not know the answer to a question, say so — the agent is designed to work with partial information and will adapt accordingly.
Typical intake sessions involve 4–8 questions depending on the agent. A code review agent might ask about your language, framework, what the code does, and what you are most concerned about. A sales strategy agent asks about your product, your ideal customer, your deal size, and what has worked before. Each question is asking for exactly what the agent needs — nothing unnecessary.
Step 5: Receive and Use the Output
After intake, the agent tells you what it is about to produce — then produces it. Depending on the agent, the output could be a structured report, a multi-section strategy document, a set of ready-to-send emails, or a complete written deliverable.
The output is designed to be immediately usable. Code review reports arrive formatted as severity-rated findings with specific fixes. Strategy documents are structured for presentation or sharing. Email sequences come formatted as ready-to-send copy with subject line options. You should expect to do light editing for your context, not significant rewriting.
Using the Same Agent Again
One of the advantages of Claude Projects is that the agent stays configured between sessions. The next time you need the same agent, open the project, start a new conversation, paste the activation message again, and run the intake for your new task. The skill file does not need to be reloaded. The agent is ready the moment you open the project.
This is particularly valuable for agents you use repeatedly — a monthly content strategy agent, a quarterly sales review agent, a code review agent you run on every new codebase. The setup investment is a one-time cost. Every subsequent use is paste, answer, receive.
Using Agents with ChatGPT
The same process works with ChatGPT. Instead of Claude Projects, paste the skill file contents into the System Prompt field when creating a Custom GPT, or into the Custom Instructions section under your account settings. Then paste the activation message into a new conversation. The agent behaves identically — asking intake questions and delivering structured output.
All KissMySkills agents are designed to work with any AI chat tool that accepts system prompts. Claude is recommended for its longer context window and stronger instruction-following, but ChatGPT produces strong results with the same files. The choice of platform is yours.
Each agent is two files and a five-minute setup. Paste them in, answer a few questions, and get a professional deliverable. $49 each across every business function — no technical knowledge needed.
