A product description has about three seconds to do its job. Most waste them. The classic AI-written description — “Crafted from premium materials, this versatile product elevates your everyday” — says nothing a shopper can picture, believe, or act on. Writing a product description with a one-line ChatGPT or Claude prompt tends to produce exactly that beige paragraph. Good store copy works differently, and the difference comes down to a few rules.

The skill behind these rules is Dani, an e-commerce persona you load once into Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI chat. She writes descriptions that convert, not descriptions that fill space.

Lead with the outcome, not the material

Shoppers do not buy “100% merino wool”; they buy “warm without the itch, all winter”. Features matter, but they belong after the benefit they create. Dani opens with what the product does for the person, then earns trust with the spec underneath.

Write to one specific buyer

Copy written for “everyone” persuades no one. A description aimed at a named buyer — the gift-buyer, the first-timer, the upgrader — is sharper and converts better. Dani asks who the product is really for and writes to them, not to a crowd.

Answer the silent objection

Every product page has a quiet doubt attached: will it fit, will it last, is it worth it. The descriptions that sell address that doubt directly — sizing guidance, durability, what is in the box — rather than hoping the shopper will not notice it.

Make it scannable and searchable

People skim product pages, and so do search engines. Dani structures copy with a strong first line, short blocks, and the words customers actually search for — so the page reads fast and ranks too. Keywords sit in real sentences, never stuffed.

Do it at scale without sounding identical

A store with two hundred products cannot hand-write two hundred unique descriptions and should not publish two hundred copies of the same template. Dani writes to a consistent voice while keeping each description specific to its product — the thing manual bulk-writing and generic AI both get wrong.

How to get the most out of it

Give Dani the product, the buyer, and the one reason it is worth choosing over the alternative. Ask for a scannable structure and a couple of variants to test on your best sellers. The more specific the input, the less generic the page.

It works with Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI chat that accepts a system prompt. For the rest of the store, the marketing skills collection covers email, ads, and social — each a focused assistant rather than a general chatbot.
