Why these skills and not the whole catalogue

Cowork works against your files and tasks rather than inside a chat window, so the skills that pay off there are the ones whose output is a file: a summary, a report, a reconciliation, a deck, a research brief. These are those roles. The rest of the catalogue still works in Cowork, but these are the ones you will reach for on day one.

How to use a skill in Cowork

Open Customize in the Claude Desktop sidebar or the skills settings on claude.ai, add the skill file, and toggle it on. Your account skills sync when a Cowork session starts. One important detail people miss: Cowork does not read the local ~/.claude/skills/ folder on your machine - it loads what is enabled for your account, which is why enabling it once is enough.
