It handles the professional work around the drawing. Reading a client brief and playing it back, generating distinct concepts with the metaphor named, writing a style guide that keeps a series consistent, planning a picture book across its spreads, specifying files for print or screen, and setting usage, revision rounds and fees before the job starts.
Does it draw the illustrations?+
No, and it will not pretend to. It cannot see your artwork, your portfolio, the client's layout or a reference you have been sent. You draw. It works on the thinking and the paperwork: concepts, composition notes, style rules, file specification and licensing, all in writing you can send to a client.
Is this about Adobe Illustrator, concept art or diagrams?+
None of those. Illustrator here is the profession, not the software, so you will find nothing about pen tool shortcuts. It is also not concept art for film and games, and not technical or process diagrams. The slant is commissioned editorial and book illustration: briefs, style, revisions and rights.
