Chronology first - exhibits fall out of it: a master timeline where every entry carries a date, a source document with Bates number, and a witness link; no undated, unsourced fact goes in, ever, because one wrong date in closing costs more than the whole exercise. The 10-week build: weeks 1-3, chronology from the hot docs (typically 200-400 of your 40,000 actually matter); weeks 4-6, exhibit list mapped to each element of claim and defense; weeks 7-8, witness binders keyed to exhibits; weeks 9-10, pretrial filings and deposition designations, with the docket checked daily throughout.
