Before-business rule on incident does 4 GlideRecord queries in a loop, forms take 8 seconds to save, and it all lives in global scope. Refactor how?

Four queries in a loop inside a before rule is your 8 seconds right there - a before rule runs synchronously on every save, so consolidate into one query with addEncodedQuery, or better, move anything that does not need to block the save into an async business rule. Half of what people put in before rules belongs in async. Global scope is the deeper debt: new work goes in a scoped app, and this rule migrates when you touch it - which is now. While you are in there, replace any getReference calls with GlideAjax if client code is involved. Paste the rule script and I'll rewrite it into one query plus an async job, with the scope migration mapped.
