Claude vs Jasper vs Writesonic for SEO Content (2026)

Short answer: Claude is the cheapest and most controllable of the three for writing and editing SEO content, if you give it a real brief and a skill with your rules. Jasper earns its price when a marketing team needs shared brand voice and approvals. Writesonic has moved towards tracking how your brand shows up in AI search, with article writing included. They overlap less than their marketing suggests.

What does each one cost? (checked October 2026)

Tool Entry price Built for
Claude Pro $20/mo, or $17/mo billed yearly General model: drafts, edits, briefs, analysis. You bring the method.
Jasper Pro $69 per seat/mo, or $59 billed yearly. Business: custom Marketing teams: brand voice, templates, campaigns in one workspace
Writesonic Starter $79/mo billed yearly. Basic $199, Growth $399 AI search visibility tracking plus SEO articles and site audits

Prices come from each vendor's pricing page and change often, so check before you buy. Jasper and Writesonic both offer trials; Claude has a free plan with lower limits.

Where is each one actually better?

  • Claude is best at the thinking parts of SEO writing: turning a keyword cluster into an outline that answers the query, rewriting a weak intro, cutting padding, checking a draft against a brief. It follows long, specific instructions well. It has no built-in keyword data, no SERP view and no publishing workflow.
  • Jasper is best when several people must sound like one brand. Shared voice settings, templates and campaign tools save review time in a team. For one writer, you are paying for collaboration you do not use.
  • Writesonic is best if your question is "do ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention us?" The plans are built around that tracking, with article generation and audits as part of the bundle. If you only want articles, it is an expensive way to get them.

How do you test them on one brief in an hour?

Do not compare demo outputs. Give all three the same brief for a page you actually need, then judge the drafts blind. Here is the brief format to paste into each tool:

Write a draft for this page. Follow the brief exactly. Primary query: [how to clean a cast iron pan] Secondary queries: [cast iron rust removal, seasoning cast iron, can you use soap on cast iron] Search intent: [informational, the reader wants steps now] Reader: [home cook, has a rusty pan, mildly worried they ruined it] Must answer in the first 60 words: [yes, you can use a little soap; here is the 3-step method] Required sections (H2): [the 3-step clean, removing rust, re-seasoning, what not to do, FAQ] Facts I will verify, do not invent: [temperatures, product names, any statistic] Length: [1,100 to 1,300 words] Tone: [plain, confident, no filler intros, no "in today's world"]

Then score each draft on five things, out of 5 each:

  1. Does the first paragraph answer the primary query directly?
  2. Does every H2 match something a searcher would actually ask?
  3. How many invented facts or numbers did it add? (Each one costs a point.)
  4. How much would you cut? Paste the draft back into Claude and ask for the version at 70% length using only existing sentences.
  5. How long did your edit take to reach publishable?

Point 5 is the real price. A tool that costs $20 and needs 40 minutes of edits per page can be more expensive than one that costs more and needs ten.

What does a good SEO workflow in Claude look like?

Claude does its best SEO work when the keyword data comes from somewhere else. Export queries from Google Search Console or your keyword tool, then use Claude for the steps that need judgement:

Here are [120] queries from Google Search Console for my site, with impressions and position. [PASTE CSV] 1. Group them into clusters by search intent, not by shared words. Name each cluster. 2. For each cluster, say whether an existing page should own it (I will give you my URL list) or it needs a new page. 3. For the 3 clusters with the most impressions and a position worse than 10, write a content brief: target query, intent, H1, H2 outline, questions to answer, internal links from this list: [URLS]. Do not estimate search volumes. Use only the numbers in the data.

For the brief step alone there is a free content brief generator on our site, and our guide to using Claude as an SEO specialist goes deeper on audits.

What none of them do for you

  • Check facts. All three will produce confident numbers that need a source.
  • Know your site. Internal links, existing pages and cannibalisation need your URL list.
  • Replace experience. Pages that rank well usually show first-hand knowledge a model does not have.
  • Guarantee rankings or AI citations. Tracking tools measure visibility; they do not create it.

Need more than one specialist?

SEO content is rarely just writing: briefs, audits, schema and AI search each have their own specialist. Library puts every skill, prompt pack and agent in the catalog (2,500+) inside Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor through one connector: you ask for a specialist by name and it loads. It is $9 a month or $59 a year, with a free trial, no card needed. Why a subscription beats buying files · See plans

How do you install an SEO skill in Claude?

A KissMySkills skill is a ZIP file with a SKILL.md at its root. In the Claude desktop app, open Customize → Skills, add a skill, upload the ZIP and toggle it on. Skills need code execution enabled, under Settings → Capabilities. If the Skills menu is not available on your plan, or you work in ChatGPT or Gemini, open the SKILL.md in a text editor and paste it into a Claude Project, a custom GPT or a Gemini Gem instead.

The other route skips files altogether: connect KissMySkills once and ask for the specialist by name in the chat you already use. That is how Library works, and it is covered in the box above.

In summary:

Claude for writing and editing at $20 a month, Jasper ($59 to $69 per seat) for a team that needs one brand voice, Writesonic (from $79 a month) if AI search visibility tracking is the real goal. Test all three on one real brief and count your edit time. To make Claude work like an SEO specialist, Serge ($19).

Run the same brief through both before deciding.

Can Claude do keyword research?+

Claude can cluster keywords, label search intent and build content briefs from a list you give it, but it has no live search volume data of its own. Export keywords from Google Search Console, Keyword Planner or an SEO tool, then paste them into Claude for clustering and briefs.

Will Google penalise AI-written content?+

Google's guidance targets low-quality content made to manipulate rankings, whatever produced it. AI-assisted content that is accurate, original and useful can rank. The risk is publishing thin, unedited drafts at scale, which no tool on this list prevents for you.
