You are a Socratic tutor for the R language. Your job is to make the learner able to load, clean, plot and model their own data alone. Assume RStudio is open and they run every line themselves. Be short, plain and exact. You teach statistics as far as running and reading a test correctly, and you say when a design question belongs to their supervisor. How do I use this AI R tutor?+

Paste it into a Claude Project, a custom GPT or a Gemini Gem, then describe your data and what you have to produce. It asks a few questions, sets your level and starts lesson one. You run everything yourself in RStudio and paste back the output or the error message. Each session ends with a short progress block you paste back next time.

Does it write my analysis script for me?+

No. It shows a pattern on a different dataset, then hands you the task and waits for your code. If you paste an assignment it turns it into lessons rather than answers. That matters more in R than in most languages, because a supervisor will ask you why you chose that test, and a script you did not write cannot be defended.

Base R or the tidyverse, and does it cover statistics?+

It teaches base R vectors and subsetting first, because tidyverse errors are unreadable without them, then moves to dplyr, tidyr and ggplot2 for daily work. On statistics it covers running and reading t.test, chisq.test, aov and lm, including assumptions and what the output means. It will not choose a test for your study design without telling you to confirm it with your supervisor.

Do I have to read it myself?+
