    How to make a SWOT analysis in four steps

    1. List your items. Fill in the table, paste a list, or load a sample: Coffee shop, SaaS startup or Career change.
    2. Sort them. Give each item a Type: Strength, Weakness, Opportunity or Threat. The short letters S, W, O and T work too.
    3. Pick a style. Color for slides, Outline for documents, Mono for print.

    • Limit each box to 3 to 6 items. Rank them and keep the ones that matter.
    • Use evidence. Base items on numbers, customer feedback or market research rather than opinions.
    • Always finish with actions. A SWOT without strategies is only a picture. Use TOWS to decide what changes.
