Many people now run more than one Claude account: one from work, one personal, sometimes one from a client. Claude does not merge them. Each account has its own chats, memory and Projects, and on the desktop app you usually have to sign out to switch. This guide shows practical ways to run multiple Claude accounts side by side, in the browser, the desktop app and Claude Code, and how to keep one shared history of your work across all of them.
Searches for "multiple claude accounts" grew about tenfold over the past year, according to Google Keyword Planner data we pulled in October 2026. We make one of the tools mentioned below, the KissMySkills AI CRM. We say where it fits and where a simpler setup is enough.
Why people end up with several Claude accounts
- Work and personal. Your company gives you a Claude Team or Enterprise seat, and you keep your own Pro plan for side projects.
- Clients. A client adds you to their workspace so the work stays under their data rules.
- Several jobs. Contractors and part-timers can have a seat at each company.
- Separation on purpose. Some people keep personal topics out of the work account, and the other way round.
One caution: separate accounts for separate jobs are normal, but creating extra accounts just to get around usage limits can break the provider's terms. Read Anthropic's usage policy if you are unsure.
How to switch between Claude accounts
In the browser
If your personal account and an organization workspace use the same email, you can switch between them from the account menu in Claude. If they use different emails, the cleanest setup is one browser profile per account (Chrome, Edge, Arc and Firefox all support profiles). Each profile stays signed in, so switching is one click and nothing leaks between them.
In the desktop app
The Claude desktop app signs in to one account at a time. To switch to an account with a different email, you sign out and back in. Many people keep the desktop app on their main account and use a browser profile for the others.
In Claude Code
Claude Code keeps its login and settings in a config folder. You can point it at a different folder with the CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR environment variable, which lets you keep, for example, one config for work and one for personal, each signed in to its own account. A simple shell alias for each makes switching quick.
On mobile
The mobile apps also hold one account at a time. Switching usually means signing out, so pick the account you use most on the go.
The real problem: three accounts, three memories

Switching is the easy part. The harder part is that each account knows only what happened inside it:
- Your work Claude does not know your freelance client is waiting for a quote.
- Your personal Claude cannot see the deadline you set in the work account this morning.
- Projects, memory and chat history never cross between accounts.
If your accounts are truly separate jobs, that is fine. But many people need one view of everything they have on: what is due today, across all of it.
One CRM that every account can update
The fix is to keep the state of your work outside Claude, in one place that every account can connect to. Claude connects to outside tools through connectors that use the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Add the same connector in each account, sign in with the same login, and they all read and write the same board.
With the KissMySkills AI CRM:
- Add the KissMySkills connector in each Claude account you use: work, personal, client.
- In each one, sign in to the connector with the same KissMySkills account.
- From any of them, ask: "What is due today?" or "Add this as a task for the Acme project." All of them see the same CRM.
Want work and personal kept apart inside the CRM too? Create separate workspaces and tell Claude which one to use. Every change to the setup is saved in History with a rollback, so if one account's Claude changes something by mistake, you can undo it.
The same works across assistants. If one of your accounts is ChatGPT, connect it the same way. See how to switch between ChatGPT and Claude without losing your projects, and for teams, the Claude Team plan guide.
Things to check first
- Company rules. Your employer's workspace may block outside connectors, or forbid putting work data in a personal tool. Ask before you connect a work account.
- Client data. If a client gave you a seat for data reasons, keep their work in a separate CRM workspace, or out of it altogether.
- Plan limits. The CRM is free up to 300 deals for one user. Unlimited deals come with All-Access at $15 a month.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two Claude accounts?
Yes. Many people have a work account and a personal one. Each needs its own sign-in and, for paid features, its own plan.
How do I switch Claude accounts without logging out?
In the browser, use one browser profile per account. If both use the same email, switch from the account menu. The desktop and mobile apps usually need you to sign out to change to a different email.
Can I use two Claude accounts in Claude Code?
Yes. Set CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR to a different folder for each account, and sign in once in each.
Do Claude Projects or memory carry over between accounts?
No. Each account keeps its own. To share work across accounts, keep it in an outside tool both accounts connect to, such as a CRM.
Can multiple Claude accounts use one CRM?
Yes. Add the KissMySkills connector to each account and sign in with the same KissMySkills login. They all read and update the same board.
