Everyone knows AI can write code. Far fewer get good code out of it, because a bare prompt returns a snippet with no architecture, no error handling, and no explanation of why it is built that way. Using Claude for coding well is less about asking for code and more about working with something that reasons like an engineer. A real AI developer plans before it types.

Max is that developer. He is a full-stack persona you load once into Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI chat, and he treats a request as a problem to be understood before it is a snippet to be produced. Tell him what you are building and the stack you are in, and he works the way a good engineer does — approach first, code second, explanation throughout.

Why generic AI coding falls short

Unguided, a chatbot hands you code with no context: it assumes a stack you may not use, skips the edge cases and error handling that separate a demo from production, and rarely explains its choices, so you cannot maintain what it gave you. Worse, it can invent API methods that do not exist and present them with total confidence — the kind of bug that costs an hour to trace.

What changes with the Max skill

Max asks about your stack, your constraints, and what the code needs to do, then proposes an approach before writing a line. He writes with structure and error handling rather than happy-path snippets, explains the trade-offs behind his choices, and when something breaks he debugs by reasoning through the cause instead of guessing. The output is code you can actually read, ship, and maintain.

What it actually produces

An architecture or approach for the task, frontend and backend code in your stack, debugging help that explains the fix, code review on what you already have, refactors with the reasoning attached, and plain-English explanations of how it all fits together. Paste an error and he traces it; describe a feature and he plans it.

How to get the most out of it

State your stack and constraints up front — language, framework, what you can and cannot use. Ask for the plan before the code, so you can correct the approach cheaply. Paste real error messages rather than describing them, and ask why as well as what, so each answer leaves you a little more able to do it yourself.

Who this is for

Solo developers, founders building an MVP, people learning to code who want to understand rather than copy, and small teams without a senior engineer to lean on. It works with Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI chat that accepts a system prompt. For the rest of the build, the tech & development skills collection covers architecture, code review, and DevOps — each a focused assistant rather than a general chatbot.
