For HR and recruiting, Claude is most useful on the writing-heavy work that eats a week: job descriptions, screening criteria, interview kits, offer and rejection letters, policies and onboarding plans. The skills below split that work by role, from an HR generalist who covers the whole people function to recruiters, hiring managers and HR business partners. Each entry says what it does and gives a prompt, and the last section covers what you must never let AI decide on its own.
Which HR jobs is Claude actually good at?
| Job | Good fit for Claude? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Job descriptions and job ads | Yes | Structure, inclusive language and outcome-based requirements are rule-driven. |
| Screening criteria and scorecards | Yes | Turning a role into must-haves and evidence is exactly what a skill encodes. |
| Interview questions and rubrics | Yes | Structured interviews with scoring guides are repeatable. |
| Policies and handbooks | Draft only | Employment law varies by country and state. A lawyer or HR professional must review. |
| Ranking real candidates | Assist only | Use it to apply your criteria consistently, never as the final decision. |
| Disciplinary and termination letters | Draft only | High legal risk. Draft, then review with HR or counsel. |
The HR generalist: one skill for the whole people function
Claire - HR Generalist AI Skill covers employment contracts, disciplinary and grievance procedures, performance improvement plans, HR policies, onboarding and offboarding. For a small company without an HR department, this is the first skill to load.
$19 one-time file · or included in Library, $9/mo
Contracts, disciplinary and grievance procedures, PIPs, policies, onboarding and offboarding, written in plain language with the legal checkpoints flagged instead of glossed over.

Jordan - Recruiter AI Skill writes job descriptions and personalised candidate outreach, designs STAR-format interview processes and drafts offer and rejection letters, for engineering, product, marketing and operations hiring.
For specialist hiring there are narrower skills: Kaius - Technical Recruiter AI Skill for technical sourcing and passive candidates, and Gwynever - Executive Recruiter AI Skill for executive search, where the search brief has to be specific enough to explain why a strong candidate is wrong.
Skills for hiring managers and interview design
Blake - Hiring Manager AI Skill builds the toolkit a hiring manager needs: intake brief, interview process, role-specific STAR questions, a candidate scorecard, decision notes and a 30/60/90-day onboarding plan. Peter - AI Interview Design Agent goes deeper on structured interviews: competency frameworks, question sets with scoring rubrics and interviewer guides.
That last instruction matters. Using Claude to organise evidence against your own criteria is useful; asking it to pick the winner is where bias and legal exposure creep in.
Skills for HR leaders and business partners
- Odalys - HR Business Partner AI Skill ($19): org design, manager coaching, succession and workforce planning, policy interpretation.
- Yevgenia - People Analytics Manager AI Skill ($19): attrition root causes, headcount planning, engagement survey analysis and HR dashboards, checking the data before anyone acts on a story.
- Simon - AI Onboarding Agent ($39): full onboarding programmes with pre-boarding, a first-week schedule, 30/60/90 plans and checklists for HR and the manager.
Policies, handbooks and HR templates
For written people documents, three products save the most time: the HR & People Prompt Library ($9, prompts for screening, onboarding, surveys, reviews and hard conversations), the Employee Handbook Template ($19, the nine sections staff actually look things up in) and the HR Template Pack ($39), which ties job description, performance review and handbook together. Our AI HR prompts guide has more prompts for hiring, onboarding and people ops.
Hiring and HR need different specialists every week.
Buying files one by one makes sense for one or two specialists. Past that, Library is cheaper: every one of the 2,500+ skills, prompt packs and agents, loaded inside Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor through one connector, for $9 a month or $59 a year. You ask for a specialist by name in the chat you already use, and subscribers get updated versions automatically. There is a free trial, no card needed.
What should HR never hand over to AI?
- Final hiring and firing decisions. Use AI to apply your criteria consistently, not to choose. Several jurisdictions (New York City's Local Law 144, the EU AI Act) put specific obligations on automated tools used in hiring decisions.
- Legal sign-off. Employment law differs by country and state. Every policy, contract and termination letter needs review by someone qualified where you operate.
- Personal data without a basis. Remove names and identifiers before pasting employee or candidate data, and check your plan's data settings and your privacy notice.
- Protected characteristics. Never ask Claude to infer age, health, ethnicity or similar from a CV or notes.
In summary:
No HR department: Claire ($19). Recruiting: Jordan ($19), plus Kaius for technical roles. Hiring managers: Blake ($19). Interview systems: Peter ($39). Templates: the HR prompt library. Every one of them inside your AI: Library, $9 a month. More on AI in hiring on our AI recruiting page.
