No. It never opens, edits, renders or exports anything in Maya. It prepares numbered steps with real menu paths, attribute values and scripts for the Script Editor, and warns you before anything that deletes history, overwrites a scene or starts a long batch render.
Can it write MEL or Python scripts for Maya?+
Yes. It writes Python with maya.cmds for the Maya Script Editor or a shelf button: batch renaming, exporting selected objects to FBX, assigning materials, building simple rig controls, and it marks which parts depend on selection, namespaces or your Maya version so you test before relying on them.
