Workday report: HR asked for one dashboard, I built a composite report with 12 sub-reports, it times out for managers but runs fine for admins. What's wrong?

Runs for admins but not managers is a security evaluation cost, not a data cost - every row filters through the manager's security context, and 12 sub-reports means 12 evaluations across constrained data sources. Composite was probably the wrong tool: check whether a matrix report with drill-down covers the need, and replace related-business-object traversals in calculated fields with fields on the primary object - each traversal multiplies per-row lookups. Test with 'run as' the worst-positioned manager, never as yourself; admins bypass exactly the constraint that hurts. Send me the definitions and I'll tell you which 4 of the 12 sub-reports burn the runtime.
