The average node js chatbot tutorial ends the moment a reply appears. Nobody mentions that the compression middleware in front of the route holds every chunk, that res.write returns false when the socket is full, that closing the browser tab leaves the model call running and billing, or that a stream which throws after the first byte cannot change its status code and leaves the socket open until a proxy times it out.

Will this node js chatbot guide work on Fastify, or is it Express only?+
Both, and it asks which before writing anything. The streaming shape differs: in Express you write to the response directly after flushing headers, while in Fastify you take over the raw response rather than letting the framework serialise a reply for you. The store, the trim strategy, the abort handling and the tool loop are the same either way.
Does this write the code for me, or do I still have to?+
It works alongside you in your editor. Opened in Claude Code or Cursor it reads the project, asks what it needs to know, and writes the route, the store and the tool loop with you, but every diff is yours to review and every command is yours to run. Treat it as a careful pair, not a button. You still test and deploy.
Can I run this on Vercel, Lambda or another serverless platform?+
Yes, with two constraints the guide makes explicit. There is a hard response time limit, so a long answer can be cut mid stream and you need a plan for resuming. And the process is stateless between invocations, so in memory conversation state is not an option and Redis or Postgres stops being optional the moment you go serverless.
