Auditor asked for our business continuity plan. We have a 2019 document listing a fax number and an office we left. Where do I start?

Start with the business impact analysis, not the document - a BCP written before you know which processes hurt first is shelf-ware, which is what your 2019 version already proved. BIA in 3 weeks: for each critical process, the RTO (hours down before real damage) and RPO (data loss survivable), signed by the process owner, not IT. Typical finding: leadership names 12 critical processes, the BIA says 4-5 actually matter within 24 hours. Rewrite the plan around those, current contacts included, then book a 2-hour tabletop exercise within 60 days - an untested plan is a hypothesis. Auditors accept a dated roadmap; when do you need to show progress?
