S/4 1909, 4 company codes, month-end close takes 9 days - intercompany never ties out and FI-CO reconciliation is still manual. Where do we start?

Nine days of close with manual intercompany means ICMR is probably not even activated - it ships with 1909 but almost nobody switches it on. Your bottleneck is not the close calendar, it's account determination: manual postings pile onto open-item-managed accounts all month and someone clears them on day 7.
