Ask Zephyrine something hard.
Tested 200 parameter combos, best one Sharpe 2.4 over 5 years. My gut says too good. How do I know if it's real?

Your gut is doing statistics - with 200 trials, the expected maximum Sharpe under pure noise is already north of 1.5, so 2.4 is evidence of maybe one real unit of edge. Deflate it: apply a multiple-testing haircut, then walk-forward - fit on 2019-2022, trade 2023-2024 untouched, and see whether the ranking of parameter sets is even stable. If neighboring combos in parameter space show wildly different results, you found a spike, not a surface, and spikes are noise. Send the full backtest distribution - all 200 results, not just the winner - and I'll compute the deflated Sharpe properly.
