Best Claude Skills for HR and Recruiting (With Prompts)

For HR and recruiting, Claude is most useful on the writing-heavy work that eats a week: job descriptions, screening criteria, interview kits, offer and rejection letters, policies and onboarding plans. The skills below split that work by role, from an HR generalist who covers the whole people function to recruiters, hiring managers and HR business partners. Each entry says what it does and gives a prompt, and the last section covers what you must never let AI decide on its own.

Which HR jobs is Claude actually good at?

Job Good fit for Claude? Why
Job descriptions and job ads Yes Structure, inclusive language and outcome-based requirements are rule-driven.
Screening criteria and scorecards Yes Turning a role into must-haves and evidence is exactly what a skill encodes.
Interview questions and rubrics Yes Structured interviews with scoring guides are repeatable.
Policies and handbooks Draft only Employment law varies by country and state. A lawyer or HR professional must review.
Ranking real candidates Assist only Use it to apply your criteria consistently, never as the final decision.
Disciplinary and termination letters Draft only High legal risk. Draft, then review with HR or counsel.

The HR generalist: one skill for the whole people function

Claire - HR Generalist AI Skill covers employment contracts, disciplinary and grievance procedures, performance improvement plans, HR policies, onboarding and offboarding. For a small company without an HR department, this is the first skill to load.

Claire, we are a [25]-person [SOFTWARE] company in [COUNTRY / STATE]. A manager wants to put an employee on a performance improvement plan. Situation: [WHAT HAPPENED, OVER WHAT PERIOD, WHAT FEEDBACK WAS ALREADY GIVEN] 1. Is a PIP the right step yet, or is something missing first (documented feedback, clear expectations)? 2. Draft a 60-day PIP with 3 measurable goals, check-in dates and what support the company provides. 3. List what the manager must document from today, and the points where we should talk to an employment lawyer.

Recruiting skills

Jordan - Recruiter AI Skill writes job descriptions and personalised candidate outreach, designs STAR-format interview processes and drafts offer and rejection letters, for engineering, product, marketing and operations hiring.

Jordan, write a job description for a [Senior Backend Engineer]. What this person will own in the first 6 months: [LIST] Must-haves (max 5): [LIST] Nice-to-haves: [LIST] Salary range: [RANGE] - include it in the ad. Rules: lead with what they will do, not with company history. Requirements as outcomes ("has run a Postgres migration in production") not years of experience. Flag any wording that might put off qualified candidates.

For specialist hiring there are narrower skills: Kaius - Technical Recruiter AI Skill for technical sourcing and passive candidates, and Gwynever - Executive Recruiter AI Skill for executive search, where the search brief has to be specific enough to explain why a strong candidate is wrong.

Skills for hiring managers and interview design

Blake - Hiring Manager AI Skill builds the toolkit a hiring manager needs: intake brief, interview process, role-specific STAR questions, a candidate scorecard, decision notes and a 30/60/90-day onboarding plan. Peter - AI Interview Design Agent goes deeper on structured interviews: competency frameworks, question sets with scoring rubrics and interviewer guides.

Blake, build the interview kit for [ROLE]. Competencies that predict success here: [3-5] Interview stages we can run: [e.g. 30-min screen, 60-min technical, 45-min team] For each stage: what it tests, 4 questions, and a 1-4 scoring rubric that describes what a 1 and a 4 answer actually sound like. End with a scorecard template interviewers fill in before they talk to each other.
Here are my notes from 4 candidate interviews for [ROLE] and the scorecard we agreed: [PASTE]. For each candidate, list the evidence for each competency, quoted from my notes. Mark competencies where I have no evidence. Do not rank the candidates - I will decide. Point out where my notes are about impressions rather than evidence.

That last instruction matters. Using Claude to organise evidence against your own criteria is useful; asking it to pick the winner is where bias and legal exposure creep in.

Skills for HR leaders and business partners

Yevgenia, here is our exit data for the last 12 months: role, team, tenure, manager, stated reason. [PASTE, NAMES REMOVED] What patterns are real and which could be noise at this sample size? Which 2 questions should we add to exit interviews to test the strongest hypothesis?

Policies, handbooks and HR templates

For written people documents, three products save the most time: the HR & People Prompt Library ($9, prompts for screening, onboarding, surveys, reviews and hard conversations), the Employee Handbook Template ($19, the nine sections staff actually look things up in) and the HR Template Pack ($39), which ties job description, performance review and handbook together. Our AI HR prompts guide has more prompts for hiring, onboarding and people ops.

Hiring and HR need different specialists every week.

Buying files one by one makes sense for one or two specialists. Past that, Library is cheaper: every one of the 2,500+ skills, prompt packs and agents, loaded inside Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor through one connector, for $9 a month or $59 a year. You ask for a specialist by name in the chat you already use, and subscribers get updated versions automatically. There is a free trial, no card needed.

What should HR never hand over to AI?

  • Final hiring and firing decisions. Use AI to apply your criteria consistently, not to choose. Several jurisdictions (New York City's Local Law 144, the EU AI Act) put specific obligations on automated tools used in hiring decisions.
  • Legal sign-off. Employment law differs by country and state. Every policy, contract and termination letter needs review by someone qualified where you operate.
  • Personal data without a basis. Remove names and identifiers before pasting employee or candidate data, and check your plan's data settings and your privacy notice.
  • Protected characteristics. Never ask Claude to infer age, health, ethnicity or similar from a CV or notes.

In summary:

No HR department: Claire ($19). Recruiting: Jordan ($19), plus Kaius for technical roles. Hiring managers: Blake ($19). Interview systems: Peter ($39). Templates: the HR prompt library. Every one of them inside your AI: Library, $9 a month. More on AI in hiring on our AI recruiting page.

자주 묻는 질문

What is the best Claude skill for HR?+

For a small company without an HR department, a generalist HR skill such as Claire (HR Generalist, $19) covers the most ground: contracts, PIPs, disciplinary procedures, policies and onboarding. Recruiters and hiring managers get more from role-specific skills such as Jordan (Recruiter) or Blake (Hiring Manager).

Can Claude screen resumes?+

It can apply criteria you define to resumes you provide and organise the evidence, which makes screening more consistent. It should not make the final decision. Remove names and identifiers first, never ask it to infer protected characteristics, and check local rules on automated hiring tools.

Can Claude write an employee handbook?+

It can draft one quickly from your policies and answers, section by section. Employment law differs by country and state, so a qualified HR professional or employment lawyer must review the draft before you publish it to staff.

Is it legal to use AI in hiring?+

Generally yes, but some places regulate it. New York City requires bias audits and notices for automated employment decision tools, and the EU AI Act treats AI used in recruitment as high-risk with extra obligations. Using Claude to draft documents is lower risk than using it to rank or reject candidates.

Do HR skills work in ChatGPT?+

Yes. The skill is plain instructions that work as a custom GPT or custom instructions in ChatGPT and a Gem in Gemini. With a KissMySkills Library plan, the connector loads skills in Claude, ChatGPT Plus and up, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor.

How much do the HR skills cost?+

Single HR and recruiting skills are $19 as one-time files, agents are $39 and the HR and People Prompt Library is $9. Library gives access to the whole catalog for $9 a month or $59 a year, with a free trial, no card needed.
