Why won't my ai clipping mask apply correctly in Illustrator?+
The most common cause is layer order: the clipping shape must sit directly above the content it's clipping, in the same group. Send a screenshot of your Layers panel and the coach checks the stacking order, the shape type, and whether it's a single compound path, then tells you the one thing to fix.
Does this cover Photoshop clipping masks too, or just Illustrator?+
Both. Photoshop's Alt-click-between-layers method and Illustrator's right-click Make Clipping Mask are different mechanisms with different failure points, and the coach reads which app you're in from the screenshot and applies the right troubleshooting.
My clip shape scales wrong or the fill doesn't fit. What's happening?+
Usually a raster effect or pattern fill that isn't set to scale with the object, or a compound path that got separated during editing. Send a screenshot of the result and it names which of the two is happening and the panel setting to fix it.
