How to use this Venn diagram maker
A Venn diagram maker should save you from the fiddly part: drawing circles, then squeezing words into the overlaps by hand. This one draws two or three overlapping circles as a clean vector image and places every item inside its region automatically. Everything happens in your browser, so a class list, a client comparison or a draft plan never leaves your device.
- Pick 2 or 3 circles and name them, for example Cats and Dogs, or Design, Code and Business.
- Add items to each region. Each region has its own box, one item per line. With two circles you get A only, B only and the overlap. With three circles you get all seven regions. Switch on Outside area for things that belong to none of the circles.
-
Or type everything in one list. Open Quick add and write lines like
Purr: CatsorFour legs: Cats, Dogs. Each line goes to the right region. You can use the circle names, the letters A, B and C, or the words both, all and none. - Style it. Choose a palette or your own colors, set the fill opacity, turn outlines on or off and choose a text size.
- Export. Print or save as PDF, download a PNG for slides, or download or copy the SVG for documents and design tools.
How the automatic layout works
For every region the tool finds the point that sits furthest from all circle edges, then stacks the items around that point. Each line is wrapped to the width that region actually has at that height, so text follows the curve of a crescent instead of spilling over the edge. When a region gets crowded, the font size shrinks step by step. If the items still do not fit at the smallest readable size, the region shows the first items plus a "+ N more" line, and a warning tells you which region overflowed. Shorten the items, choose a smaller text size, or move some of them to another region.
Two circle or three circle Venn diagram?
Two circles are best for a simple compare and contrast: two books, two historical figures, two products, two job offers. A 3 circle Venn diagram shows richer relationships, such as the classic skills overlap or sorting numbers by several rules at once. The centre region of three circles is small, so keep the items there short.
Compare and contrast Venn diagram ideas for class
A compare and contrast Venn diagram is one of the quickest graphic organizers to set up, and it works from early primary school to university seminars.
- Reading: compare two characters, two fables or a book and its film. The Compare two books template uses two Aesop fables as a model.
- Science: plant and animal cells, mammals and reptiles, weather and climate.
- Maths: sort numbers by rules such as even, multiple of 3 and prime. The Numbers 1 to 20 template shows the finished answer, so you can check student work.
- History and civics: two leaders, two time periods, two forms of government.
For a printable Venn diagram worksheet, switch on Blank worksheet. The labels and title stay, the items disappear, and every region gets writing lines. Add name and date lines and print. Students then fill in the regions themselves, which turns the diagram into an assessment. If you grade the written follow-up, the free essay grader can help with feedback, and teaching with AI collects more ideas for planning lessons with AI.
Printing and exporting
The Print button sends only the diagram to the printer: no website header, no form, no buttons. It is centred and sized to fit one page of both US Letter and A4, so you never need to change a setting. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog to keep a file. If you print in black and white, pick the Grayscale palette so the overlaps stay distinguishable.
The PNG is rendered at twice the on-screen size, sharp enough for slides and documents. The SVG is a standalone vector file with generic fonts, so it opens in browsers, design tools and office apps and scales to any size without blur. Copy SVG puts the code on your clipboard for tools that accept pasted SVG.

FAQ
Is this Venn diagram maker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit. The diagram is built in your browser and your items are never sent to a server. Your last diagram is saved in this browser only, so it is still there when you come back.
Can I make a 3 circle Venn diagram?
Yes. Choose 3 circles and you get all seven regions: each circle alone, each pair, and the centre where all three overlap. You can also turn on an outside area for items that belong to none of the circles.
How do I print a blank Venn diagram worksheet?
Switch on Blank worksheet. The title and circle labels stay, your items are hidden and every region gets writing lines. Turn on name and date lines if you like, then press Print. It fits one page of Letter or A4.
What happens when a region has too many items?
The text in that region shrinks to fit. If the items still do not fit at the smallest readable size, the region shows the first items and a "+ N more" line, and a warning names the region so you can shorten or move items.
Can I use the diagram in slides or documents?
Yes. Download a PNG at twice the on-screen size for slides and documents, or an SVG that scales without blur in browsers, office apps and design tools. Copy SVG puts the code on your clipboard.
