Using an AI essay grader responsibly
- You stay the grader. AI scores can be off by a band, especially on creative or very short work.
- Anonymise first. Remove names and school details before pasting any student work.
- Use your rubric. Feedback tied to shared criteria is fairer and easier for students to act on.
- Check your school's policy on AI tools and tell students how you use them.
- Great for drafts. Students can self-check a draft against the rubric before they submit.
- Not a plagiarism or AI detector. It grades writing quality, it does not judge authorship.

Essay grader questions
Is this AI essay grader free?
Yes. No sign-up and no payment. Each visitor can grade up to 10 essays per day so the free AI stays available for everyone.
Is student work stored or used for training?
No. The essay is sent to our AI once to write the feedback and is never saved, shown to anyone or used for training. Only the feedback is cached anonymously for up to 24 hours. Remove names before pasting.
Can I use my own rubric?
Yes. Paste up to about eight criteria, one per line. If you leave it empty, the grader uses a standard rubric: thesis, evidence, organisation, style and mechanics.
How accurate is the score?
Treat it as a second opinion. It is usually close on clear, well-structured essays and less reliable on very short, creative or highly technical work. Always read the essay yourself before you give a grade.
How long can the essay be?
Up to 7,000 characters, roughly 1,100 to 1,200 words. For longer papers, grade them section by section or use the AI Essay Grader skill in your own AI.
Does it detect AI-written or plagiarised essays?
No. It grades the quality of the writing against the rubric. It does not judge who or what wrote it.
