But the better question is why you read BSEG at all: if this is S/4, ACDOCA is your friend and it's column-store fast. Long term, yes, push the logic down into a CDS view with associations - code pushdown is the pattern, not an optimization. Paste the SELECT block and the loop body and I'll rewrite it set-based with a realistic runtime estimate.
