HubSpot vs Pipedrive comes down to one question: do you need marketing and sales in one place, or just a sales pipeline that is easy to use? Pick HubSpot if you run inbound marketing and want email, forms and the CRM connected. Pick Pipedrive if you are a sales-led team that lives in a pipeline board and wants it cheap and simple. For a 3-person team, Pipedrive Growth costs about $1,400 a year; HubSpot Sales Hub Professional costs about $4,700 including onboarding.
This comparison looks at the jobs a small sales team does every day: log a deal, follow up, forecast. It covers pricing for 3 and 8 seats, pipeline UX, automation, AI, integrations, and what Pipedrive users praise and complain about. We make a third option, KissMySkills AI CRM, so we are not neutral. We say where it fits and where it does not, and both HubSpot and Pipedrive beat it in several areas.

Quick verdict: who should pick HubSpot, who should pick Pipedrive
- Pick HubSpot if marketing brings in your leads (content, forms, email campaigns), you want sales and marketing data in one system, or you expect to add customer service tools later. Start on the free CRM and upgrade only when you need sequences or forecasting.
- Pick Pipedrive if your team is mostly salespeople working deals, you want the most visual pipeline board, and you want to keep per-seat cost low. Pipedrive is quicker to set up and easier for reps to adopt.
- Pick neither if you are an owner or a team of 2 to 5 who mostly need a pipeline that stays current and you already use Claude or ChatGPT every day. That is where an agent-first CRM like ours fits.

Pricing compared for 3 and 8 seats
Pipedrive pricing is per seat. As listed on Pipedrive's pricing page in October 2026 (annual billing), plans are Lite at $14 per seat per month, Growth at $39, Premium at $59 and Ultimate at $79. Monthly billing costs $24, $49, $79 and $99. There is a 14-day free trial and no free plan.
HubSpot Sales Hub is also per seat: a free CRM for up to 2 users, Starter at a $20 list price per seat per month (when we checked, HubSpot offered new customers a limited-time $7 per seat per month on annual billing), Professional at $90 per seat plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee, and Enterprise from $150 per seat plus $3,500 onboarding. Our full breakdown is in HubSpot CRM pricing.
Year-one cost at list price, annual billing:
| Plan | 3 seats, year one | 8 seats, year one |
|---|---|---|
| Pipedrive Lite | $504 | $1,344 |
| Pipedrive Growth | $1,404 | $3,744 |
| Pipedrive Premium | $2,124 | $5,664 |
| HubSpot Starter ($20 list) | $720 | $1,920 |
| HubSpot Starter (limited-time $7 offer) | $252 | $672 |
| HubSpot Professional (incl. onboarding) | $4,740 | $10,140 |
The pattern: at entry level the two are close. HubSpot's free plan and, if you qualify, its limited-time Starter offer make it cheaper to begin; at the $20 list price, Starter costs a little more than Pipedrive Lite. Once you need automation and sequences, Pipedrive costs much less. Pipedrive pricing for 8 seats on Premium is still around half of HubSpot Professional. Pipedrive costs climb with add-ons (for example, lead capture and campaigns), so price the modules you will actually use.
Pipeline management and daily UX
This is Pipedrive's home ground. The pipeline board is the center of the product: deals are cards, stages are columns, and you drag deals forward. Every deal shows its next activity, and Pipedrive nudges you when a deal has nothing scheduled. For a salesperson who wants to open one screen in the morning and know what to do, it is excellent.
HubSpot's pipeline board does the same job and does it well, but HubSpot is a bigger product. Contacts, companies, deals, tickets, marketing emails and reports all live in one system. That is powerful, and also more to learn. New reps usually need more time to feel at home in HubSpot than in Pipedrive.
The honest problem with both: the pipeline is only as good as the updates. If a rep forgets to log the call or move the deal, the board lies. That is the gap an agent-first CRM tries to close, which we cover below.
Automation and email sequences
Pipedrive adds workflow automation from the Growth plan: when a deal moves to a stage, create a task, send an email, update a field. It handles the common cases well with a visual builder.
HubSpot's sequences (a series of personal follow-up emails that stop when the contact replies) and its workflow engine are deeper, but sequences need a paid seat and serious automation needs Professional. If automated follow-ups are your main reason to buy, HubSpot Professional is the stronger tool, at a much higher price.
AI features: HubSpot Breeze vs Pipedrive AI
HubSpot Breeze includes an assistant that summarises records and drafts emails, plus agents for prospecting and customer support. It runs on HubSpot Credits: 500 a month on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise, with extra credits at $0.010 each. Light use is covered; heavy agent use adds a variable cost.
Pipedrive offers an AI sales assistant that suggests next actions from your deal history, and other AI features that vary by plan. Some lead-generation features, like LeadBooster, come with Premium and above or cost extra on lower plans (LeadBooster is listed from $32.50 per company per month billed annually).
In both cases, the AI lives inside the CRM. You open the app, find the record and press the AI button. That is helpful, but it still depends on you going there.
Integrations and reporting
Both have large integration marketplaces, and both are far ahead of young CRMs, including ours. HubSpot's ecosystem is the largest of the two and covers marketing tools, ads platforms and service tools natively. Pipedrive connects to the common sales stack (email, calendar, calling, forms, accounting) and to most tools through automation platforms.
For reporting, HubSpot Professional offers custom reports and forecasting that a sales manager can run a weekly meeting from. Pipedrive's Insights reports are simpler and easy to read, with revenue forecasting on Premium. If your manager lives in dashboards, HubSpot has the edge.
Pipedrive review: what users praise and complain about
Across public reviews, the pattern in any Pipedrive review is consistent:
- Praised: easy to learn, clean visual pipeline, a strong mobile app, good activity reminders, fair entry pricing and quick setup.
- Complained about: marketing and lead-capture tools cost extra, reporting is lighter than HubSpot or Salesforce, automation limits on lower plans, and the bill grows as you add seats and add-ons.
That matches our own view. Pipedrive is a focused sales CRM, and it is very good at that focus. If you need a broad platform, it is the wrong shape.
Alternatives if neither fits
If you are looking for a Pipedrive alternative or a HubSpot alternative, these three cover different needs. More options are in our list of HubSpot alternatives for small teams.
Attio
A flexible, modern CRM with custom objects, good data enrichment and a free plan for up to 3 seats. Paid plans start at $35 per seat per month billed annually ($44 billed monthly), per attio.com in October 2026. It suits startups that want to shape the data model themselves.
Zoho CRM
A long-running CRM with a free edition for up to 3 users and low-cost paid editions. Its AI assistant, Zia, is available on higher editions. It suits teams that want a full suite of business apps at a low price and do not mind a busier interface.
KissMySkills AI CRM
KissMySkills AI CRM is an agent-first CRM. There is no per-seat AI fee because the AI is the one you already use. You connect Claude or ChatGPT through the KissMySkills MCP connector, and your agent reads and edits the pipeline. You type "called Marco, he wants the premium package, send the revised quote Thursday" and the agent moves the deal, adds the note and sets the reminder. It works the other way too: ask "which deals have gone quiet for two weeks?" and you get a list with suggested next steps. Our guide to the two-way AI CRM shows how that works.
You can import deals from Pipedrive or HubSpot and keep your stages. It is free for up to 300 deals and 1 user at crm.kissmyskills.com. Unlimited deals come with the All-Access subscription at $15 a month or $129 a year, which also includes the other KissMySkills tools.
Where it falls short, plainly: no marketing automation, no email sequences of its own, a much smaller integration list than either HubSpot or Pipedrive, and no native mobile app. It is a young product. It is the right pick only if you already work in an AI chat every day and your main problem is keeping the pipeline current. For a wider view, see our best AI CRM guide.
Switching from one to the other
Many teams reading a Pipedrive vs HubSpot comparison are already on one of them. Switching is easier than it looks, as long as you plan three things.
- Map your stages first. Write your current pipeline stages side by side with the new ones before you export anything. Most broken migrations come from deals landing in the wrong stage.
- Export deals, contacts and activities separately. Both tools export to CSV. Deals and contacts move cleanly; email history and call notes are where data gets lost, so decide what history you really need.
- Run both for two weeks. Keep the old CRM read-only while the team works in the new one. Anything people go back to look up tells you what you forgot to migrate.
Going from HubSpot to Pipedrive usually makes sense when a team is paying for Professional mainly for automation and never uses the marketing side. Going from Pipedrive to HubSpot usually makes sense when marketing starts producing most of the leads and the team wants one view of a contact from first visit to closed deal.
How to choose in 30 minutes
- Write down where your last 20 leads came from. Mostly marketing? Lean HubSpot. Mostly outbound and referrals? Lean Pipedrive.
- Count the people who need paid seats, then price 12 months on the plan that includes the feature you actually need.
- Start a Pipedrive trial and a HubSpot free account the same day. Load the same 20 deals into both.
- Log three real calls in each, the way you normally would.
- After a week, check which pipeline is still accurate. That is your answer.
FAQ
Is HubSpot or Pipedrive better for a small business?
Pipedrive is usually better for small, sales-led teams that want an easy visual pipeline at a low per-seat price. HubSpot is better when marketing drives your leads and you want marketing and sales in one system, or when you can stay on the free plan.
How much does Pipedrive cost?
As listed on Pipedrive's pricing page in October 2026 (annual billing), Pipedrive costs $14 per seat per month for Lite, $39 for Growth, $59 for Premium and $79 for Ultimate. Monthly billing is $24, $49, $79 and $99. Add-ons such as LeadBooster cost extra on lower plans.
How to set up Pipedrive?
Create your account, define your pipeline stages to match how you actually sell, import contacts and open deals from a spreadsheet or your old CRM, connect your email and calendar, and set an activity for every open deal. Most small teams are running within a day.
Is HubSpot CRM free?
Yes. HubSpot has a free CRM with no time limit for up to 2 users. Sequences, forecasting and advanced automation require a paid Sales Hub plan.
How to track leads in HubSpot?
Create a contact for each lead, set the lifecycle stage and lead status, and create a deal when there is a real opportunity. Use the deal pipeline board to move it through stages, and log calls, emails and meetings on the record so the history stays in one place.
