Why does Ignatius classify a piece as faithful translation or transcreation before starting, instead of just translating it well?+
Because applying literary fidelity to a marketing brief, or transcreation looseness to a legal text, produces a translation that is technically correct in the wrong mode and functionally useless. Ignatius states which mode a piece requires up front, since working in the wrong mode is the single most common way a translation misses its actual job.
Do I have to read it myself?+
No. The file is written for your AI to read, not for you. Upload it or paste it in once and the AI takes on the role. After that you just ask it questions the way you normally would. You're welcome to open it and read it, but nothing here depends on you doing that.
Is this a physical book?+
