A jobs table with SKIP LOCKED workers handles three orders of magnitude more, keeps transactional enqueue - the job commits atomically with the business row, no outbox pattern needed - and your team already knows how to operate Postgres. Kafka enters at sustained thousands per second, multiple consumer groups, or replay requirements. Write the ADR with the switch trigger stated, so the revisit is data-driven. What do you need for failures - retries, DLQ, ordering?
