Fiori Elements list report on a CDS view - client wants 14 custom features and the template fights every single one. Time for a freestyle rewrite?

Not yet - score the 14 features against extension points first, because half of typical asks are annotations you haven't tried: custom actions, selection variants, field groups all live in @UI without a controller. The real smell is usually the CDS consumption view - if it doesn't expose the right associations, every UI requirement becomes a hack one layer too high. My working rule: past 40% custom controllers, freestyle wins on maintenance cost. Send the feature list and I'll mark each one annotation, FE extension, or freestyle-only - then you decide with numbers instead of frustration.
