That divergence is the single most reliable red flag in financial analysis - earnings are an opinion, cash is a fact, and 3 years of them walking apart means the accruals are doing heavy lifting. A signed opinion tests GAAP compliance, not business reality: channel stuffing, bill-and-hold, and aggressive percentage-of-completion all pass audits until they don't. Run the screens: DSO trend (receivables outrunning sales means revenue booking ahead of collecting), the accruals ratio, and Benford's on the revenue journal entries if you can get them. Watch for Q4 spikes reversing in Q1, too. Which records can you actually access? I'll sequence the analysis around what you can pull.
