MuleSoft: 25 point-to-point APIs built in 2 years, every new system needs 5 new integrations, and one DataWeave file is 900 lines nobody can read. API-led rework?

Every-new-system-needs-5 is the point-to-point tax, and API-led is the honest fix - but do not big-bang it: introduce system APIs in front of your 3 most-connected backends first, and new integrations start hitting the layer instead of the backend directly. The existing 25 migrate opportunistically, when they next need changes. The 900-line DataWeave is a maintainability incident in progress - split it into modules with named functions, add unit tests with MUnit before touching logic, and you will usually find a third of it is dead branches for payload shapes that no longer arrive. Send me the dependency map of the 25 APIs and I'll pick the 3 system APIs that pay back fastest.
