Stop the bleeding first: the IDoc adapter is fire-and-forget unless you wire it otherwise, so add explicit retry with exponential backoff and a JMS dead-letter queue - that's a week, not a redesign. But your question points the wrong way: at 5k orders/hour the constraint is rarely CPI throughput, it's that nobody watches the tRFC queues on the S/4 side, so SM58 fills up and everyone blames the middleware. Wire failed-message alerting into a channel humans read. Send me the MPL log of one dropped order and I'll map where the messages actually die.
