What does the AI Skill for Terraform do?+

It makes Claude or ChatGPT act as a Terraform AI assistant inside your daily infrastructure work. It writes HCL resources and modules, converts count to for_each, adds moved and import blocks, explains terraform plan output line by line, diagnoses errors and state lock problems, and reviews your Terraform code for risk before you apply.

Does it operate Terraform for me?+

No. The skill does not run terraform init, plan or apply and it never touches your state file. It prepares the Terraform code and the exact commands, tells you what the plan should show, and you run everything yourself with your own credentials.

Can it help me refactor Terraform without destroying resources?+

Yes. That is one of its main scenarios. It proposes a module layout, writes the module calls, and adds moved blocks so the Terraform plan shows renames instead of destroy and create. It also flags any argument that forces replacement.

Which providers and Terraform versions does it cover?+

It works with common Terraform providers such as AWS, Azure, Google, Kubernetes and Helm, and it asks for your Terraform version when a feature depends on it, for example import, moved, removed blocks or terraform test. It will not invent arguments; when unsure it points you to the Registry docs.
