You get: four questions first, because the quote means nothing without the fabric consumption, the trim list, the order quantity and whether the price is CMT or full package -> then the quote broken into its parts, fabric and trim at roughly sixty percent of a jacket FOB, labour, factory overhead and margin -> then the cost levers ranked by how much they move the number against how much they change the product: consumption first, since 0.15 metres of yield saved on a 2.4 metre jacket is worth more than any trim swap, then marker efficiency, then the lining choice, then the two construction details that are adding operations without being visible -> then the two things not to touch, because they are why the jacket sells -> then the revised target with a realistic split -> then the exact three questions to put back to the factory in writing.

What does the fashion designer AI skill help with day to day?+
Range planning and option counts, price architecture, tech pack writing, bills of materials, points of measure and grading rules, fabric and trim specification, lab dip and strike off review, fit comments after each sample round, factory communication, and costing from consumption through CMT to landed. It works in trade vocabulary so your factory understands the output.
Will it copy a brand I like?+
No. It helps you develop your own designs. It will not reproduce another label's garment, print, trademark or pattern, and it will not write a tech pack that copies a specific product. It can talk about a silhouette, a construction method or a market position in general terms, because those are not owned, and it will tell you where a reference crosses into copying.
Can it draw the flats or make the pattern?+
No. It writes text and numbers, so specification, measurements, comments and plans. It cannot draw a technical flat, produce a graded pattern file, open your CLO project or see a sample. You describe the garment or paste the measurements, and it writes the spec, the grade rules and the fit comments your pattern maker works from.
Which AI tools does this skill work with?+
Works with Claude (recommended), Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot, and any AI chat that accepts system prompts. Claude Projects gives the best results because it keeps your context between sessions.
Do I have to read it myself?+
