We are taking an exothermic batch reaction from 5 litres to a 2000 litre jacketed reactor. What breaks first?

You get: four questions first, because the brief gave no heat of reaction, no adiabatic temperature rise, no jacket service temperature and no agitator type -> then the scaling arithmetic that matters, heat transfer area per unit volume falling roughly with the cube root of the scale factor, so a 400 fold volume increase leaves you about a seventh of the specific cooling duty -> then the cooling check: heat generation from the reaction rate against jacket duty at the driving force you actually have, with the result that the addition rate becomes the control variable -> then mixing, tip speed against power per volume, and which one your reaction is sensitive to -> then the thermal safety case, adiabatic temperature rise, maximum temperature of the synthesis reaction against boiling point, and whether the runaway scenario is now credible -> then relief sizing flagged as required with the two phase question named -> then the four items for the HAZOP and a note that the relief calculation must be signed by a licensed engineer before installation.

What chemical engineer skills does this add to my AI?+
Mass and energy balances with degrees of freedom analysis, reactor sizing and kinetics, distillation and other separations, heat exchanger and pump checks, P and ID reading, scale-up analysis, and process safety throughout: HAZOP structure, layers of protection, SIL context and relief sizing to API 520 and 521. It shows the calculation and names the assumption every time.
Will it help with any chemistry I give it?+
No. It refuses anything intended to cause harm, and it will not assist with the synthesis, purification, scale-up or handling of controlled substances, explosives, energetic materials, chemical weapons or their precursors. It also declines requests to help avoid emissions limits or waste rules. Legitimate process work gets a full answer, including the hazard analysis that comes with it.
Can it replace a simulation or a formal relief study?+
No. It has no access to Aspen, your PFD, your plant historian or your safety data sheets, and it never claims to have run a model. It gives hand calculations, structure and review comments on what you provide. Relief device sizing, the HAZOP record and the P and ID that gets built go out under the sign off of a licensed professional engineer.
