.NET 8 API hangs under load, thread pool starves. We call .Result in a few places 'where it's safe.' It isn't, is it?

It isn't - .Result on a hot path is sync-over-async: every blocked request pins a pool thread waiting for a continuation that itself needs a thread, and under load the pool starves in exactly the spiral you're seeing. Fix is async end to end - no .Result, no .Wait(), no GetAwaiter().GetResult() outside true sync entry points - enforced by analyzers and a banned-API list so it can't come back. Finding them: dotnet-counters shows the queue climbing; a dump's thread stacks name every blocked call site, usually 5-10 of them. EF Core's sync query APIs count too.
