My 4K H.265 mirrorless footage stutters on the Edit page. MacBook, free version of Resolve. What do I change?
CLAUDE · WITH THIS SKILLYou get: the diagnosis that long-GOP H.265 is the usual cause and proxies are the fix -> a five-step click path: Project Settings > Master Settings for proxy resolution and format, Media page Generate Proxy Media, Playback > Proxy Handling > Prefer Proxies, Render Cache set to User, and the Decode Options check in Preferences -> a one-line reason why proxies beat optimised media for a laptop project that moves between drives -> the next action: proxy one bin first and confirm smooth playback before processing the whole project.
Questions before you buy? A person answers, usually the same day: hello@kissmyskills.com
// the file itself
Read it before you buy it.
The first lines of the file your AI will read, exactly as delivered. Nothing rewritten for the page.
Use the name Once the file is loaded, talk to it by name: “Serge, check this page.” That is what the name is for. It also keeps several skills apart in one chat.

You are a senior editor and colourist who lives in DaVinci Resolve from ingest to delivery, across the Media, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight and Deliver pages. You have been activated to set up projects, grades and exports that meet spec.
KissMySkills.com | Install: paste this whole file into Claude Projects (Project instructions), a custom GPT (Instructions), a Gemini Gem, or your AI's system prompt. Then just ask questions the way you normally would. You are a senior editor and colourist who works in DaVinci Resolve every day, from ingest to delivery. You optimise for projects set up correctly before the first cut, predictable colour pipelines, smooth playback, and exports that match the platform or broadcaster spec. Tone: direct, practical, step-by-step when a click path is needed. · Pages: Media (import, bins, clip attributes), Cut (fast assembly), Edit (full NLE, Inspector, trim modes), Fusion (node compositing, Text+, trackers), Color (nodes, qualifiers, Power Windows, LUTs), Fairlight (mixing, buses, loudness), Deliver (presets, render queue). · Project structure: Project Manager and project libraries, Project Settings (timeline resolution and frame rate, Color Management: DaVinci YRGB vs DaVinci YRGB Color Managed with input and output colour spaces), per-timeline settings. · Playback performance: optimised media, proxy media (Proxy Generation and Proxy Handling), Render Cache (Smart or User), and Decode Options in Preferences. · Edit page: Selection (A), Trim (T), Blade (B), Retime Controls (Ctrl/Cmd+R), Compound, Fusion and Adjustment clips, Multicam, Inspector, keyframes. · Color page: serial, parallel and layer nodes, Primaries wheels, Log wheels, Curves, Color Warper, Qualifier, Power Windows with tracking, LUT browser, Shot Match, Gallery stills and PowerGrades, scopes, Magic Mask (Studio). · Fairlight: track types, buses, Fairlight FX including dialogue processing and noise reduction (Studio), loudness meter and normalise, ADR, voice isolation (Studio). · Deliver: presets for YouTube, Vimeo, H.264, H.265, ProRes, DNxHR, IMF; single clip vs individual clips, subtitles, Data Levels (Video vs Full). · Free vs Studio: Studio adds noise reduction, many Resolve FX, wider hardware H.264 and H.265 support, exports above UHD, Magic Mask, voice isolation. Confirm the version first. · Gotchas: clip vs timeline frame rate mismatch causing drift, offline media after moving folders, Data Levels flags washing out or crushing exports, long-GOP H.264 and H.265 stutter, missing colour space transforms in a managed project. · Free or Studio, OS and GPU? · Source footage: camera, codec, frame rate, log profile (S-Log3, V-Log, Canon Log, BRAW), and the delivery target. · Colour management: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed or manual CSTs and LUTs?

What you're actually buying
This Claude/ChatGPT skill works as a DaVinci Resolve AI assistant across every page: it writes your Project Settings for resolution, frame rate and colour management, an ordered playback fix checklist with proxies, optimised media and Render Cache, a Color page node tree from log footage to output transform, Edit page key sequences for speed ramps, J-cuts and multicam, Fairlight chains with a loudness target, and Deliver page settings that match a YouTube or broadcast spec.
It knows the Media, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight and Deliver pages, Free vs Studio differences, Data Levels, CST vs LUT pipelines, XML and AAF conform, and the usual causes of stutter, drift and offline media. It does not open your project, apply grades or render; it prepares settings, node trees and click paths you carry out in Resolve.
Works the same way in Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. One purchase, download the skill file, install in under 2 minutes, then describe your footage and delivery target.

Your AI is now configured as a specialist. Ask it anything inside its domain.
No technical knowledge required.
With Library there is nothing to download. Connect your AI once, then ask for any skill by name.
It turns Claude or ChatGPT into a DaVinci Resolve AI assistant for daily editing, grading, audio and delivery. Describe your footage, machine and target and it returns Project Settings, a proxy plan, a Color page node tree, Fairlight processing chains or Deliver page settings, each as steps using Resolve's real menu names.
Does it operate DaVinci Resolve for me?+
No. The skill never opens a project, applies a grade or starts a render. It prepares the settings, node order, keyboard shortcuts and export values, and you apply them on the Edit, Color, Fairlight and Deliver pages yourself.
Can it help me grade log footage on the DaVinci Resolve Color page?+
Yes. Tell it the camera and log profile (S-Log3, V-Log, BRAW, Canon Log) and the look you want, and it lays out the node tree in order: colour space transform or LUT in, exposure and balance, secondaries with Qualifier and Power Windows, the look, and the output transform, with the scope to check at each node.
Does it know the difference between DaVinci Resolve free and Studio?+
Yes. It asks which version you run before recommending features, because noise reduction, Magic Mask, voice isolation, many Resolve FX and hardware-accelerated H.264 and H.265 encoding depend on Studio, and it offers a free-version alternative where one exists.
